General Manager Conny Östling has led Larkollen Camping through a major upgrade. With a clear vision to modernize the site’s facilities, he chose Fibo to refurbish worn bathrooms, showers, and kitchens with durable, modern wall panels.
Showers in Focus – and It Shows
Larkollen Camping is one of Norway’s largest and most popular family campsites, with 365 permanent pitches and 36 short-stay spots. They also offer 11 cabins and glamping. Each year, between April and October, they receive more than 22,000 visitors. When the need for upgraded toilet and shower facilities arose, it was clear that the investment had to be both long-lasting and appealing.
We listened to our guests’ feedback and knew we wanted to improve this. Good facilities are crucial to the overall experience, and when people are happy, they’re more likely to return.

With Fibo wall panels, combining an efficient and affordable renovation with a high-quality and aesthetic finish became possible. The Rough Cement and Soft Cement decors provide a clean, modern look that suits the updated style of the campsite.
Innovation and Comfort in One Solution
Fibo was chosen for several reasons: durability, ease of installation, hygienic surfaces, and a modern look – all at a reasonable cost. But for Conny Östling, it’s also about innovation in operations.
– We’ve digitalized the entire campsite, including key handling and booking, which has saved us 400 working hours per year. These kinds of investments free up time and resources, and allow us to innovate, he says.
Upgraded Kitchens and Østfold’s Largest Ice Cream Bar
The old kitchen had seen better days. With new Fibo panels, both guests and staff now enjoy safer, cleaner, and more modern surroundings.
The ice cream bar Campis, known as Østfold’s largest, with 42 flavors, also received custom-made Fibo panels. And yes, we who interviewed Conny got a taste, including saffron and brown cheese ice cream. During peak season, they sell one ice cream every 1.5 minutes, and now it’s done in more hygienic and stylish surroundings.
Focus on Sustainability
Larkollen Camping is Eco-Lighthouse certified, and sustainability is a focus in both operations and maintenance. Fibo panels’ environmental properties, long lifespan, and easy cleaning make them a natural choice for a site looking to reduce waste and resource use over time.
An Industry Role Model
As a seasonal business with flexible staffing during the summer, good collaboration and clear planning are essential for delivering high-quality. With a dedicated team from headquarters and motivated seasonal staff, the large site is kept in top condition. The renovation of the sanitary and kitchen areas shows what’s possible when the right resources meet targeted effort, and that great guest experiences aren’t limited to hotels.
– We want to be a role model for other campsites, says Östling. – When comfort, technology, and aesthetics work together, both the guest and the operator win.

The story of Larkollen Camping shows what’s possible when tradition is combined with forward thinking. With roots back to the 1950s and some guests having stayed for nearly five decades, the site is rich in history. Still, it’s the willingness to renew that prepares it for the future.
