MAX Attefall and Fibo: small houses with great value

For many families, the need for more space arises as children grow older or when children and grandchildren come to visit. It’s not always pleasant when everyone must share the kitchen, bathroom, and living room in the same home. Björn Sundvall, CEO of MAX Attefallshus AB, is well-versed in this matter. He has built two Attefall houses (annexes) on his property, which he actively uses with his family.

Smart and comfortable small homes

– It’s a completely different experience when you can offer guests, children, or grandchildren their own little house, says Björn. It gives both residents and visitors a sense of privacy and comfort. It has been incredibly positive for our family.

MAX Attefall designs and sells small, independent homes of up to 30 square meters that can be built without planning permission in Sweden. The houses are built by local craftsmen, using kits delivered from MAX Attefall. This solution reduces transportation, provides employment opportunities for local carpenters, and is environmentally friendly. The houses are erected in about two weeks and come with all modern comforts: a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and space for both a washing machine and storage.

Fibo: an important part of the overall experience

An important element in MAX Attefall’s houses is the use of Fibo wall panels. The panels are standard in the bathroom but can also be used in kitchens and staircases.

– We use seven Fibo packages per bathroom, and customers choose the décor that best suits their style. We recommend Fibo because we know it works, both during construction and in everyday use. This project uses 4008 Beige Stone, 1532 Negro Grande, and 5004 Gold Kitchen Board.

He particularly highlights how Fibo provides both practical advantages and a cohesive design: It is easy to install, looks great, and delivers a professional finish without extra cost. It fits perfectly into our concept, which should be simple and safe.

A home for different life stages

Attefall houses are used for much more than guest rooms. For young adults who don’t want to move too far from home, they offer a smart and economical solution. For elderly parents who need a little help in everyday life, it provides the opportunity to live close to their children without losing independence.

The houses also bring extra value as rental properties, both for students and tourists. Björn rents to bathers and salmon fishers during the summer season. It provides both income and the chance to showcase the concept in practice.

Design that feels bigger than it is

Although the houses are only 30 square meters, many people experience them as feeling larger. Customers often say it feels much more spacious than it looked online. We have spent time on smart solutions, and it shows, says Björn. The design is functional and cozy; it doesn’t cost extra but is included with the house.

MAX Attefall has only delivered houses in their current form for three years, but has already been named “best in test” two years in a row in Aftonbladet’s Attefall house review. This shows that the concept resonates strongly in the Scandinavian market.
