Tasteful and Fire-Safe Renovation at Baker Kristiansen

For over 100 years, Baker Kristiansen has been serving freshly baked goods from their bakery in Moelv. Since 1919, they’ve had the same focus: delivering high-quality, traditional craftsmanship with a strong emphasis on quality. Last year, it was time to upgrade the bakery, and in the fall of 2024, the renovation of Baker Kristiansen’s premises was completed—a project where both aesthetics and functionality played starring roles.

At the heart of the bakery, in the kitchen where passionate baking takes place, the choice landed on Fibo Fire Rated Panel. This sustainable wall panel solution combines practical and aesthetic benefits.

The panels come in a range of designs, are fire classified B-s1, d0, 100% waterproof, and approved according to wet room standards. They also feature hidden fastening for a clean and professional look, with no need for post-treatment.

Dekor 0085 White is used on all walls inside the bakery.

There are always plenty of bakers in action at Baker Kristiansen.

– “In 2003, our entire bakery burned down. That experience, along with the various fire regulations we have to comply with, led us to start exploring this type of product,” says Trude Haugen, owner and managing director. “We chose Fibo Fire Rated Panels because we needed robust, waterproof walls that are easy to keep clean and also meet the B-s1, d0 fire rating. The fact that the panels can handle rough use made them the perfect choice for us.”

Gausdal Landhandleri Moelv supplied most of the building materials for the project. Store Manager Joachim Sjørengen explains: “We’re very familiar with Fibo and have supplied a lot of bathroom wall panels over the years. The Fire-Rated Panel, however, was a first for us since it’s a completely new product. When we heard the customer’s requirements, we thought this would be a great match – and it turned out to be exactly that. This has been a large and exciting project to be a part of, and it’s great to see the fantastic result and how popular the bakery is in the local community.”

Tommy Karlsen, District Manager for Fibo in Innlandet, followed the project closely: “This has been a really fun one to work on!
